GOLDSMITHS YEAR 2 LIVE BRIEF:
FACEBOOK AND AUGMENTED REALITY
“How can people express themselves through and with
World-anchored AR?” was their question to us. The brief was to “explore a scenario where the camera can be used to help achieve a task that is important to people. It might be to connect them with friends, to learn, to directly express themselves, to explore, to play, to entertain”
As a group we were interested in gentrification and how it effected South East. Gentrification birthed the exploration of archived spaces, preserving and protecting the feel, look and value of a space in the otherworldly layering of AR. We wanted to create
a virtual space for information, maps and eventually music to create a library of the area of
Deptford's Macmillan Park. I began to make musical scores from Lidar scans of the park with my team. The notation gave an emotional addition to the project, giving the space a voice and a level of empathy to help the us better connect with the space as it is now.
